AUTOGENICS Luis de Rivera (2022). Autogenics 3.0:                                               The New Way to Mindfulness and Meditation deRivera is a professor of psychology, studying brain function and autogenics in a number of publications autogenics concentrates attention-awareness on experiences generated by oneself, both in- and ex-ternally...primary is the "live-experience", the real, immediate, meaningful, and felt experience in the body...using the mug metaphor to describe this "live-experience,": the handle of the mug is the word(s), the container of the mug is the concept, and the broth/liquid in the mug is the live-experience... 2 types of protocols are developed in the book: one protocol is for somatosensory meditation, focusing on body mass (weight) and thermogenisis (heat/warmth) in the arms, legs, back of neck, throat, chest, heart,...

LIBERATION Sofia Sundari (2021). Liberation into orgasm:                                             Through pleasure beyond pleasure. Sundari has a BA in International law and legal studies and holds several "certifications" in meditation, dance, yoga, and tantra...she has been teaching since 2012 and created the Boundless Love podcast. The main idea is that any pleasurable sensation can be viewed as "orgasmic"...it's a different way of being, using our awareness of orgasmic sensations as a source of pleasure, AND it doesn't end there, but it broadens to include the idea that sexuality (including orgasm) is a gateway to the Divine, to Love. There are many practices included in the book, AND there are also many practices that are only hinted at...these are used as ads to her many on-line workshops and courses (this part was disappointing to me, e.g., the...

MUSCLE TESTING  John Diamond (1979). Your Body Doesn't Lie Diamond is a medical doctor basing his work on George Goodheart's Applied Kinesiology except he calls the work Behavioral Kinesiology which he defines as a practical method of assessing the effects of external and internal physical and psychological stimuli on the body, providing a negative (muscle tests weak) or positive (muscle tests strong) outcome. The assumption is that the the body is an energy system greatly influenced by the thymus gland (immune regulator) which is, in turn, influenced by stress, emotions, posture, food, and physical and social environment. Thumping (tapping several times with the tips of the fingers of one hand) in the middle of the chest above the breast bone (the thymus gland is directly under this area) provides a temporary boost of energy. Muscle testing requiring 2 people: The person being tested extends their arm straight at shoulder height while the tester pushes quickly and firmly (with...

120 Years Ilchi Lee (2017). I've Decided to Live 120 Years:                                     The Ancient Secret to Longevity, Vitality,                                     and Life Transformation. Lee is the author of over 40 books and the founder of Earth Village in New Zealand. Lee views the first 60 years of life as learning, working, and family, while the 2nd 60 years are for spirituality, service, and continued learning of how to align the brain (thoughts), heart (feelings), and gut (action). Lee's advice is based on Sundo , a Korean form of mind-body training...among his recommendations are: For enhancing physical power: every hour of the day, move vigorously for 1 minute (opportnistic exercise), walk daily with attention on the soles of the feet (a point in th...

GOLF M. Scott Peck (1999). Golf and the Spirit: Lessons for the Journey. Peck was a psychiatrist and died 5 years after publishing this book. I gave the book to my Dad in 2002 when Peck was still alive and I see where my Dad underlined parts in the book but never wrote anything in the margins as i nearly always do...my Dad died in 2023, and this is one of the books i retrieved from his bookshelf after the funeral...i often felt his presence while reading. The book also holds special meaning because Dad taught me how to golf as a youngster and we played many a round together growing up...we also played a round or hit a bucket of balls when i'd visit (he lived out of state) until he could no longer golf due to back and shoulder pain in his 60's. Peck applies the game of golf to life, especially the spiritual journey, by taking the reader through an 18-hole golf course that he designed. There is much to learn about paradox, being, competition, sex, flow, and spirituality. some of...

SPIRITUAL SOLUTIONS Wayne Dyer (2003). There's a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem. Dyer earned a Doctorate of Education in Guidance and Counseling, and is a prolific author. His first book that i read in the 1970's, Your Erroneous Zones, profoundly influenced my thinking as a teen.  The theme of this book is that there is a spiritual solution to every problem, that problems are illusions created in the mind by incorrect thinking, and that the solution to these mental problems is to change our thinking in light of the spirit (defined as an energy/intelligence that is the source of all life, i.e., God). Some might call this "spiritual bypassing," ignoring the body in favor of the mind and spirit. The first half of the book is lessons from Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. Dyer suggests that low frequency is associated with the "negative" and faster frequency with the "positive" [for me, at least musically, lower frequencies don't imply negative emo...

GIANT WITHIN Anthony Robbins (1991). Awaken the Giant Within:                                                     How to Take Immediate Control of Your                                                    Mental, Emotional, Physical, and Financial                                                   Destiny. Robbins is a self-educated person who developed several systems for improving the quality of life that led to seminars, audio tapes, and books...despite this book being 43 years old (as of 2024), I find his ideas relevant and applicable...
