Emad Mostaque (2025). The Last Economy: A Guide to 

                                        the Age of Intelligent Economics.


Mostaque has a BS in Math and Computer Science from Oxford, was a fund manager, and founded Stability AI (retired in 2024).

Mostaque predicts that there will be an intelligence inversion in 1K days from the time of the writing...about 3 years, in 2027 [as of my writing this is on 1//3/2026...the time is not far off]. He demonstrates historical changes in power...from land to labor to capital to intelligence. Artifical Intelligence (AI) will replace humans for all knowledge jobs...this can be viewed as a disaster or a liberation....the future (3-30 years) is a time when there will be no more "jobs", firms, or labor for money, rather, our "job" will be to guide AI with wisdom prompts, exercise our presence, and hand craft unique human art.

Mostaque argues that we should replace Gross Domestic Product as a dashboard for society with the MIND dashboard where:

M=material capital--health, finances, and sustainable environment

I=intelligence--learning new durable skills

N=network--quality and strength of relationships, friendships, community

D=diversity--options that provide resilence for change

The 4 components of MIND multiply such that any one component at zero will zero out the entire system whereas an abundance of any component acts as a multiplier for the system.

MIND can be applied to society or the individual level

There are many other fascinating ideas in the book, plenty of references, and historical case studies throughout.

TURN ON Timothy Leary (1965, 1999). Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out Leary was a University Professor at Harvard who is best know for his experiments with LSD. The book is part lectures, part interviews, and part essays. Given all the media hype about Leary, i was surprised at how much common sense i encountered, and how much he speaks to learning, hope, and love.  He begins with a chapter on how to start your own religion (to invoke the rights of the first amendment in US law) with family and friends, a tribe of people living together in community with their own laws...a place where sacrament is consumed (it need not be LSD, but anything that is spiritually meaningful to the community, something that binds the community together in ceremony)...a place preferably in nature where one feels protected and nurtured.  The BIG ADVICE is to drop out of society's robot world/mind, and turn on to God/Goddess (the Spirit), nature, and the body and mind, and tune in (dropping back into socie...
