IGNORE

Hugh MacLeod (2009). Ignore Everybody:

And 39 Other Keys to Creativity.

I couldn't find any information on MacLeod's educational credentials. His work experience includes being a copywriter for 10 years while creating cartoons on the back of business cards at bars before blogging and creating the website Gagping Void.com.

The book is based on his blog and includes 2-4 page chapters with little drawings for each chapter...the format of each chapter begins with a principle followed by a personal story and advice, and a picture to summarize.

some of the advice that resonnated with me:

choose something you WANT to do--your personal mountain to climb, a hobby, your shtick, something soulful, meaningful, and fun...and don't monetize it or turn it into a "job."

be totally f--king amazing at whatever you decide to do! put in your hours, put your heart in it, give it your all, it may take years to get good...don't worry, being a good human being is the most important thing

when inspired, create...when not inspired, go on an adventure

HOW do you find meaning, satisfaction, maybe even some joy...how can you carve out more space and time to do this thing that you love without giving up your day job...without monetizing it and turning it into "work"...if you don't have anything like this in your life, start meditating on why you're here on the planet, what your personal mission in life is, how can you help others, what life may be asking you to do, your calling...if you ask often enough and LISTEN attentively enought, you will find...
