Jack Schwarz (1978). Voluntary Controls:
Exercises for Creative Meditation.
Schwarz has no formal educational degrees...he developed some of the techniques in a Nazi concentration camp before founding the Aletheia Foundation in 1958 which as of this writing in 2026 has a website (aletheiaheart.com)...Schwarz is self-taught with no teacher, guru, or formal religions/spiritual affiliation...he realized at age 9 that he could put his hands on people and heal them...he was tested by scientists like Elmer Green on his abilities such as being filmed inserting a knitting needle through his bicep with no bleeding or significant changes in heart rate or brain waves...this is what he calls "voluntary control"
Learnings:
the most important idea is to trust yourself, your inner voice, your intution...take any method/teacher/idea and put it to the test...discard what doesn't meet your needs or modify/adapt to fit your needs...you are the ultimate authority for your life
reverie technique involves creating projection screen about 10 feet away, paradoxical breathing, creating and entering an imaginary scene (a place your create with the 5 senses) with your mirror image (a second or double of youself), and observing your mirror image interaction with a symbol/issue as it organically unfolds (no judgment, just notice), journaling afteward, making whatever changes are needed
creative meditation process is much more involved than the reverie and includes several meditations (pages 57-82): chanting, concentration and decentration, mirror image, penetration, contemplation, sythesis, erase, candle flame, and pilot light...
the main creative meditation is related to the chakras and is quite involved (pages 100-131) picturing and interacting with geometric symbols (e.g., square, circle, cross, cresant, lotus flower) and colors using body awareness, breathing in colors/liquids/gases, and noticing what happens in the body and mind with full awareness
Practice:
one hand on solar plexus, other hand on back of neck...hold for 3 mins...switch hands...hold another 3 mins--for balancing and clearing blockages
