KUNDALINI YOGA
Gurmukh (2000). The 8 Human Talents:
Restore the Balance and Serenity Within You
With Kundalini Yoga
Gurmurkh Kaur Khalsa's teacher is Yogi Bhajan...Gurmukh is a Sikh, associated with the Golden Temple, and as of 2000, has been teaching kundalini yoga and meditation for 30 years.
Kundali yoga is a chakra based system with postures and meditations related to each of the following eight chakras: rectum (saftey and survival), genitals (procreation and creativity), navel and solar plexus (personal power), heart (love and compassion), throat (communication and truth, 3rd eye (wisdom and intuition), crown of head (self-realization and union), and auric energy field around the body (overall health)
each chapter covers movements and meditations related to one of the chakras....the movements are generally very vigorous and repetitive (25, 54, or 108 repetitions, or 1, 3, 7, 11, and 31 minutes) with the challenge of continuing a practice for 40 days to facilitate change
there are too many postures/movements and meditations to describe here, but one practice i resonnated with that to test out: while siting with hands in lap, fingers interlaced with tips of thumbs touching, and eyes closed, focusing on the 3rd eye (between the eyebrows), pull up the muscles (tighten them) at the rectum, genitals, and navel on an inhale while chanting aloud, "God and me, me and God, are one," hold as long as possible, then exhale and relax, repeat for 3-11 minutes.
