DOWSING
Elizabeth Brown (2010). Dowsing:
The Ultimate Guide for the 21st Century.
Brown has been dowsing for over 20 years, and has clients in over 20 countries that employ her services...her specialty is health and wellness.
The assumptions of dowsing are that everything in the universe vibrates with energy and information, that everything has consciousness, and that human beings are antennas that pick up energy and information which is translated subconsciously through a downing instrument via our attention and intention.
Field dowsing is used to find something (e.g., water, lost object) whereas remote dowsing is used to map an area or obtain information. There is a British and an American Society of Dowsers. There is not much empirical research on testing dowsers, generally dowsers don't perform well in lab settings due to performance anxiety and mixed motives...dowers need to be relaxed, in a good mood, and have a honorable intention to successfully dowse...to prove that dowsing "works" comes from ego and that is antithetical to dowsing.
The process of informational dowsing is to focus on a simple, clear, binary (yes or no) question held with attention and intention in the mind while holding a dowsing instrument (e.g., L-rods, pendulum, or bob), and then to let go, surrender, and wait patiently for movement in the dowsing instrument. The direction of the movement for a yes or no response is decided ahead of time by a simple command of "show me yes" and wait to see what the dowsing instrument does (same for show me no). One cannot force the dowsing instrument to do something...one needs to relax and let it happen naturally. Typically, the L-rods will cross for yes and move apart for no whereas the pendulum will spin clockwise for yes and counterclockwise for no.
It is important to ask some preliminary questions before dowsing...may i, can i, and should i are all permissions needed before dowsing...these and other preliminaries as well as the pragmatics of how to dowse are covered in two chapters 60-160. For skeptics, try it and see for yourself.
