ONE MIND
Larry Dossey (2013). One Mind: How our Individual Mind is a part of a greater Consciousness and why it matters.
According to Dossey, our individual minds are part of One Mind LIKE a drop of water is to the ocean...we are all part of this One Mind and can tap into the One Mind for whatever we need, especially for healing, service, and love. Note that the drop of water-ocean metaphor does not mean the drop of water IS the ocean...the ocean is much vaster, more powerful, has properties of its own apart from the drop of water (see Houston Smith's "properties of being" like power, duration, locale, unity, import, and worth)...nonetheless we share the same essence/quality of the ocean.
Dossey provides evidence for the One Mind phenomenon through chapters that discuss: sense of being stared at, quantum entanglement of subatomic particles that are similar to entangled minds, near death experiences, communication with the dead, savant abilities, twins that have similar experiences over great distances, remote viewing, dowsing, distant healing, creative scientific discoveries via dreams, guides and voices, and so forth...some of the names that stood out to me that one might investigate to further understand our relationship with the One Mind are: Erwin Schrodinger, Joseph Chilton Pearce, Russell Targ, Jeanne Achterberg, Ervin Laszlo, Arthur Koestler, and Houston Smith.
One simple way to engage with the One Mind is to: set an intention, get the ego out of the way (there are many ways to do this--see William Bengston for an innovative method called "cycling"), sit and wait--cultivate patience, and be grateful for whatever happens--one key in accessing the One Mind seems to be love and caring, thus a compassionate intent to help others is one way to begin.
